Is your favorite restaurant or shop SAFE Certified? It’s time to feel good about going back out!
Our world is changing quickly with concerns about health and safety being top of mind for so many. While some are not concerned at all, others may be very concerned due to many reasons. There may be underlying health concerns or someone may be caring for a vulnerable person. As a community, we must do all we can to keep each person as safe as possible. While there is no way to assure safety or guarantee an illness free area, there are many things that can be done to reduce the risks.
Governments, corporations, business associations, hospitals and more have provided guidance for best practices. This is confusing to the public and business owners alike. SAFE Certification was designed to help individuals know if that business, facility or location has taken up and implemented the requirements or best practices as outlined by these entities. SAFE Certified locations have demonstrated the ability and willingness to provide an environment which meets or exceeds the expected safety standards.
Depending on the business, the requirements for certification are:
- Provision of PPE to each entrant
- Hand sanitation or washing stations at each common touchpoint such as door handles, payment kiosks, etc.
- Frequent cleaning
- Assignment of an Accountable Representative
- Physical distancing between occupants (social distancing)
- Written procedures for the implementation and maintenance of the SAFE Plan
- Written procedures for when an entrant test positive for a tracked illness such as COVID-19 (coronavirus)
- Other requirements may be necessary for certain businesses such as temperature checks, HVAC UV light sanitation
We hope you do your part and visit businesses who have shown the willingness and ability to maintain best practices for cleanliness and sanitation.
